With Plugged In Pt. III coming to us this Friday I wanted to touch on “The Session” event we had a few weeks back. DaMatrixStudios put on their second Hip-Hop Cypher: “The Session”, at Fusion lounge in the BX. It is obvious I am a fan of slick bars and crazy word play due to guest who have been on The Vantage Point with Hustle&Flow and my steady attendance at Queen of the Ring so I look forward to these cypher events each and every time.
As me and my ladies “Flow” aka Tracy and “P” aka Precious made our rounds greeting everyone as Flow snapped up the pictures the vibe was nice, the turn out beautiful.

First Class

First Class

As supporters of the underground at each and every event DaMatrixStudios holds we have an Open Mic set to showcase the local talent before we break into the main event of the night. As we had observed the crowd I peeped two fellas who appeared to be friends who turned out to be the first open mic acts of the night. First Class hit the stage to perform “Stay” With one half of the act breaking into a 16 I was surprised when the punk rock looker of the two started serenading the ladies during the hook. He was a singer. This was a song for the ladies quoting, “Promise if I ever fall in love you can catch”

The next act was a young man by the name of King Hus performing “Classic Shit” which was classic hood to say the least.

Followed by S tha Mogul bringing us “Off that blue” with a cup of that blue in hand. I was yet again the girl being rapped to. Oh how I adore those moments that make my cheeks get rosey.
Then to add a spin we added a few more acts, from King Hus camp his bout L Daddio hit the stage for a second.

Dawn on the Open Mic

But this last act was PURE open mic. A songstress by the name of Dawncame up and sang pure accapela Belting out a song for all the ladies who are coming off a breakup or need to be inspired to do so. She did that.

It was only right that our very own Raine of Battle Talk Radio host the nights events being that she herself is a Battle Rapper. Co-Hosting with her was the lovely Nicki Star.

The roll call went down like this: Nyce, Streetz, Pradda, and Tru Sun Ali. The rounds went down back to back to back so it seemed like one cypher with the mic being bounced around. I must say tho, these fellas did NOT come to PLAY. I was partial to Tru Sun Ali especially after round 2 with that line..

Tru Sun Ali

“Need to play catch up cause I BEEN past you..”

To make this a little more interesting King hus was added in round 3. So what was already a BRUTAL Cypher became total Carnage.

Round 4 is where it started to really POP OFF. The beat.. the play on the song. It was greatness.
Round 5 came right after and the fellas made sure you understood WHY they were invited to participate in this cypher. Though the crowd wanted a round 6 desperately our time at Fusion had come to an end and so we had to bid adieu.

BUT this FRIDAY its going down with PLUGGED IN PT.III to celebrate our very own DJ Mike Majors Birthday. Come check out a good show and get your networking on.

Last Friday DaMatrixStudios threw there bi-weekly #PluggedIn event at Fusion Lounge in the Bronx. As soon as Mr Colgate smile DJ Mike Major and the always rocking a mean shoe game Mocha Marie got on the mics to host the evening the energy started to build and the crowd was rocking.

Tyese on the Open Mic

In tradition DaMatrixStudios opened the first hour to the crowd as a open mic. The first brave soul was a soultress by the name of Tyese. Starting off with a wonderful cover of Etta James “I’d rather go blind”, she then went in to a track called “Back against the Wall” written by herself, and produced by none other than DaMatrixStudios own Khardier Da God.
Next to hit the stage was Sunny Ryzen, he started off singing his own hook but then went right into rapping. That was a surprise to me. Well done. Broadway of Paranoid music was next, a Bronx rapper all about THAT life. Chea. Following Broadway was pop singer Andria Garcia, another Paranoid music affiliate.
The special guest performers of the evening were FratBoy Musics: P.Swag, BathGate, and Ron Thomas. They deff brought the love through. The crowd was alive rocking with them. P Swag was the first up to bat starting things off with “One night in Paris” and then in rockstar fashion his boys PayDay and BathGate rushed the stage to preform “Bounce that ass”

PayDay, Bathgate, & P.Swag

Ron Thomas SANGIN!

Then no sooner did P Swag exit the stage after talking with Mocha and Mike for a minute the whole mood changed. Ron Thomas walked up in his Suede boots, black zipper accented leather vest, Black levis and a White and black T looking the epitome of R&B. This boy can BLOW. Starting off with “Just Breathe” the ladies were smitten by those VOCAlS by the time he got to “Homicide” he dedicated this “To those who’ve had their heart broken.” But he went into FULL ON performer as he broke down in “Fight for Love.”

With the new mixtape “Roses & Vodka” out right now Ron Thomasis one to look out for.

The final episode in this FratBoy Music saga was BathGate taking the stage jumping into “Pockets full of $$”. His stage presence is entertaining. He had such personality during his performance, talking #Rough&Reckless cutting the DJ off and all types of mess to go into “I’m a star” Then for his final song Ron Thomas joined him on stage for a FratBoy music collab.

Bathgate rocking with the crowd

The love the fratboys brought thru the room was overflowing. Like the bars. In the best way. With good looks, style, concepts, substance, they made the whole floor get live. The enrgy was unsurpassed. And as you know “After the party, it’s the AFTER PARTY” with DJ Mike Major, Khardier Da God, and Duff Da Inventa on the ones and twos.
Be sure to stay on the watch for what DaMatrixStudios is bringing to Fusion NEXT.
