“NYPA” had Gloria Fisher, mother of Brandon Jackson on their show this past Saturday. Brandon is currently incarcerated serving 15 years for being wrongly accused by biased standards that we are led to believe are derived from racial stereotyping. Brandon, a black man, had been visiting a friend when a white intoxicated man who had been at a neighboring house party and in altercations already that night approached Brandon randomly to fight. Brandon had no choice but to engage and in turn did what he had to, to protect himself and end the fight which resulted in him beating the man. He then went back into the house of the friend he was visiting. When preparing to leave he blocked off and was jumped by 6-7 white men who had admittedly been drinking and proceeded to beat Brandon till a home owner shouted she was calling the cops. In that process Brandon had pulled out his 3 inch pocket knife in defense and fought on till the men dispersed. One of the white men had been stabbed several times and was on the scene when Brandon went back in his friend’s home. After the police arrived Brandon explained how he had been assaulted and then jumped and beat but the police arrested him on aggravated assault. For two years nothing happened, but then the prosecutor presented the case to a grand jury arguing the point that Brandon’s first assailants injuries where extensive. His case has been being fought for the past 5 years as he was found as attempting assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 15 years.
In my opinion this was clearly racial profiling, regardless of the story being that Brandon is a black male he is being held up to the highest extent of the law while the assailants where never even arrested. To add insult to injury the one who was found wounded with a knife injury was automatically pinned on Brandon. Though he was not sure if he had stabbed anyone or not there is a major lack of evidence to prove it was him. The guy had been stabbed but he also had other injuries that Brandon did not have a weapon to inflict. The legal system has seemed to overlook this overwhelming evidence and still found a way to put Brandon in prison for 15 years. He has been going through appeals ever since but based on his skin color alone this is not going to be an easy case to get overturned.
I know we would like to believe we are on the road to building a utilitarian society but with things like this still happening in the new millennium I’m not quiet sure how close we are to that. For the full interview and breakdown of Brandon’s situation get into the Clips HERE and HERE

A few Saturdays ago “NYPA” had a very insightful show when Kyle & Alanzo spoke with Author of “Schedule for Success” Pauly Jones. Pauly called in to discuss some topics from his new book that is the follow up to his previous book “Who told you you were broke?”
In “Who told you you were broke?”Pauly brought to light that being broke is a state of mind instilled by our surrounding society.. aka the media.
“We don’t realize we are testifying and coming into agreement with someone who hated you in the first place” – Pauly Jones
We have been told by the powers that be that we are poor and cannot achieve certain things because of this, but that is only because we accept their ideology that we cannot overcome the positions we are born into. This is not India, we don’t have caste system. This is America, “The land of opportunity”, if this is the image we sell to world then why is it we are led to believe we can only go so far in our own lives here.
Though minorities in America are often born into a less than ideal situation as far as socio-economic conditions (lower to lower-middle class communities) that does not mean we have less ability to succeed. Less resources and access, maybe, none the less we are afforded the same opportunities.
The problem lies in us as a people accepting the status quo.
From what Pauly Jones was speaking on he has exposed these myths in “Who told you you were broke?”
“It’s not about what is in your bank account, but about what is in your heart”..
If you take control of your talents and skills and apply them with a proper plan you can achieve anything you want.
“Once you rebel against society telling you, you are broke, you can gain all the wealth you want financially, mentally, emotionally, health wise, etc.”
Breaking the cycle that we have been thrown in that is designed to keep us oppressed.
His new book he came to speak on is the step you take after you accept that there are no limitations to what you can do.. His concept is that if you plan accordingly you can achieve any desire you have.
“When you make a habit of doing things right it carries over.. ..make a schedule, stay organized.. ..schedule for success in all areas of your life”
Some may call this “The Secret” or “The Law of Attraction”.. ..call it whatever you like, just understand the concept. What you say and think is reflective in the outcome of your life, so instead of saying “I’m broke” say things like “It’s not in my budget right now”. This keeps the hope and will to achieve alive.
“The real secret is; if you take no action no attraction isn’t coming at you anyways”
This man really blessed “NYPA” with some jewels, the notion that we are capable of whatever we can imagine is one I have lived by for a long time. It is all a matter of planning what needs to be planned and allowing fate to take over the rest as you prepare for a flawless execution of your dreams.
“Your schedule becomes your treasure map for your own success”

While waiting to pick up a friend at the airport in Portland, Oregon, I had one of those life-changing experiences that you hear other people talk about — the kind that sneaks up on you unexpectedly. This one occurred a mere two feet away from me. St...
